CEHD Doctoral Dean's Research Fellow & SREB Scholar, Science Education with coursework in Educational Psychology
I received my BS & MS from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Biology and Bio-psychology. My current research interests are between two pipelines: inquiry practices and knowledge development through participation in an out of classroom experience. My other area of research focuses on how urban individuals relate to nature and understand environmental science. I work with the non-profit Trees Atlanta creating environmental science summer camp curriculum, investigating how an outdoor experience affects students understanding of science practices and their relation to nature. My dissertation work specifically investigates how participation in a school garden inquiry intervention supports students developing the performance and understanding of science practices.
